The L D Brennan home hosts a Christmas party on Saturday evening December 10 with 25 cent gift exchange and a request to bring a pie and sandwiches. Mrs Weishaar and Mrs Webber organize the event. Nearby, Mr and Mrs William O Leary hosted a bridge gathering Sunday night with guests including Mr and Mrs Robert Neary and Hugh Neary. Hugh Neary won high among men and Mrs O Leary high among women. A ham breakfast follows at St Thomas Parish hall on Sunday morning December 11 after Masses at St Thomas Church. The St Aid Society plans the breakfast serve by Roy Ryan as announced to the public.

Rotary speakers on gemstones at Spencer club meeting

The Spencer Rotary Club held a Tuesday meeting with guest speaker Fre Barrick, a registered gemmologist, who discussed precious gems, diamond cutting and mining. He showed samples and explained polishing and shaping by hand, noting the typical diamond has 33 faces. President Walter Needham led the session.
