Mrs Ellen Crosby was pronounced dead and prepared for burial in Crawford County. Her young daughter awoke crying no and insisted the body be returned to bed. The child said the mother spoke from the grave. After hours, Crosby revived and soon began to recover.
Ex Congressmen David Colson of Middlesboro and Trent Scott of Somerach face murder charges after a Capitol Hotel lobby shooting that left Luther Demaree and Charles Julian dead, Captain B. B. Gollen gravely wounded, and Colson and Scott among the injured with a long history of feud and political tension. Hard details show Scott killed Demaree and Julian, Colson wounded in the arm, while others sustained injuries as the pair clashed amid political hostilities.

John Waesner and George Lehman, German farmers from Ackley Iowa, stayed at the True Blue hotel in New York last Saturday night. Waesner was found dead with his companion Delian in a pan unconscious beside him. Lehman died in a hospital. Waesner had several hundred dollars in his pockets.
Fire practically destroyed a half block of buck stores and offices in Iowa City injuring thirteen business and professional men. Loss estimated around 60,000 with firms including Durand, Keith & Company, jewelers Mrs Wood, Jiorna, dry goods Geo W Leners grover. Fire began in a dry goods store and threatened surrounding buildings as flames spread through the block.
