Runaway Team Kills Horse in Mill Street Alley Accident

A team belonging to Cabin Ensign ran away on a Thursday morning in the alley between Mill Street and Washington, causing a horse to be fatally injured. Driver Crank Slaols and others recall the frightful scene as the tongue of the wagon drove into the flank of the animal. Mr Walton’s ice wagon was involved, valued at about $200.

Oberlin College Opens Seventieth Year With Record Enrollment

Oberlin College began its seventieth year with the first exercises and chapel services on Wednesday. Enrollment is already the largest on record, with official counts not final. Pocketbook Lost or Stolen in Wellington Waiting Room

Mrs Adelia Smith reports a pocketbook containing 147 dollars in cash and a 72 dollar negotiable check was lost or stolen while en route from Lorain. In a Lorain to Wellington transfer, she searched a young man in the Andwar hotel waiting room and accused him, though he denies theft and offers to assist. She suspects she dropped it near the Lodi street loop and plans a liberal reward for its return.

New Superintendent Named for the G and S W

E N Coe will be succeeded by OD Opdyke as superintendent of the G and S W around October 1. Opdyke, formerly a superintendent with Lake Ames Electric, is praised for capability. A major schedule change follows with hourly through routes from Norwalk to Cleveland via Oberlin and Elyria, Wellington to horain via Oberlin and Elyria, and North Amherst to Gratton via Elyria, intended to improve public service.

Farm House and Barn Burned at Eaton Center

A large farm barn of Alfred Faa vor located half a mile east of Eaton Center burned early Thursday. The barn’s contents and almost all crops were destroyed. Two valuable farm horses in the barn perished. Loss is mostly uninsured. A separate fire near Shawville damaged the home of George Jackson, occupied by Mike Moore, under unclear circumstances.

Pastor Rev Harry Sheldon Likely Next Leader at Lorain Church
