The Ohio Bankers Association legislative committee hires attorney Drausin Wulsin of Cincinnati to draft a modern state bank inspection bill. It aims for a thorough, non political inspection, mandatory bank condition reporting, and elimination of unexamined private banking. Opposition is said to have weakened since last session due to indictments of key opponents.
Two congregations list services at 10 am and 7 pm at First Congregational Corner Court and Second with Rev. Cadmus contact 254 Harrison Street and at Lake Avenue and Lodi Street with Rev Wanna maker. Morning subject The Love That Lays Down Its Life. Junior and Senior departments meet at 11 80 and 7 pm respectively. A rift within the Democratic Party emerges over Mayor Folger’s renomination. Counciman Mueller and Folger are viewed as the two strongest candidates, with Mueller indicating willingness to run if needed and Folger open to a candidacy without active effort. They both possess strong party support, and a Mueller Folger contest is anticipated to be highly engaging.
Methodists meet on Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm with Dr. Dawson preaching on A Had Religion. St Andrews Episcopal holds 10 am services with Rev Withycombe officiating and Evening preaching canceled for Oberlin convention. Other churches include Church of Christ Scientist, Spiritualist Association, and local Episcopals with various pastors and addresses. services begin 9:30 to 10:30 am, with catechism and lectures scheduled through the day.
Reverend J T Schofield of 320 Middle avenue presides over Sunday masses and Sunday school with First Mass at 7 00 am Children’s Mass at 9 00 am High Mass at 10 00 am and Sunday school at 2 00 pm at Corner Midate avenue and Fourth streets.
St Pauls Evangelical on Third street announces Sunday services at 10 am and 7 pm led by Pastor Rev Nathaniel Lehman at 423 Third street with Friends and parishioners invited to attend.
State fair officials report record attendance and receipts this year. Thursday drew over 45 000 attendees with 40 884 paid adults. Total receipts are expected near 50 000 dollars.
Roy Knabenshue of Toledo completed his State Fair engagement with two successful flights in Columbus. The final ascent reached about 800 feet as the airship bobbed in a stiff wind. he landed without accident. The craft was shipped to Detroit, while Knabenshue traveled to Toledo where his wife remains in hospital recovering from a recent operation.
Ohio Dairy and Food Commissioner Ankeney issued a warning circular to grocers about lard quality. In the past year nearly half of department samples were adulterated, with percentages from low to eight percent. No prosecutions have yet occurred.
The Carnegie Library at North Amherst is nearly finished with interior carpentry remaining. The library board plans dedicatory services around the 15th of next month with prominent speakers. The building is praised as an architectural beauty.
At a Cleveland meeting of B and O Railway directors a bond issue of 150000 was authorized for Lorain improvements. Plans include an engine house power plant and car repair shop on Seventeenth avenue after land was acquired. An 180000 bond issue was also approved for a new bridge in Cleveland to be built immediately and ready by April 1 next year.
