Major Symons of Buffary received from Washington headquarters of the corps of engineers a communication notifying him of appointment on the committee to inspect breakwater construction at Ashtabula Conneaut and Black River harbors. The committee will meet in Cleveland at the end of the senior year. Other members are Col. Jared A. Smith and Major Clinton B. Sears.
An order was placed with Amer iea Ship Building Co for five of the largest steamers on the lakes at an estimated cost near 8500 each. The ships will feature all electric lighting from end to end and power to tow large barges. Construction is expected to begin and be near ready by next navigation season, with Lorain possibly hosting three or all five builds.
A man described as Medline, claimed epileptic from a state hospital, fought guards after a train incident near a prison station. He fell, suffered head injuries, and was placed in custody for further investigation as Probate Judge Himnan oversees the case.
Forward Conrady a young man of about lf years died Sunday night near South Lorain after being struck by an L and B H motor car at the Thirteenth avenue crossing. He had been drinking at the house where he visited and lay asleep with his head on his arm when the car passed, crushing his head. The incident occurred in a shadowed, wooded crossing area and the body was taken to Wickens morgue. Coroner Brainan was notified and went to Lorain Monday.

A second strike affected Lorain Foundry with union and management negotiations ongoing.
The Hon. Wilbur Rice Baldwin and Mrs Lilla Irvine Merkel wed this morning at the bride’s mother’s house in Wasim. The ceremony was Episcopal led by Rev. Ware Ren D. More. The couple will live in Elmira at 1 College Avenue after November 1 and were joined by close relatives and a few intimate friends.
John Keating and George Sullivan, youths aged 13 and 14, were bound over to the common pleas court after a hearing before Mayor Babe Reed. They are accused with Roy Sedaker of assault and robbery at Avon on Sunday afternoon. Keating previously faced a Cleveland store robbery charge and is on bond for $500.

Topics include How to study History with profit and Methods of presenting temperance physiology in the schools, value of study methods to young teachers, nature and color study. The body of Miller of Stony Ridge lay beside the L O & Co track about six miles east of Lorain.
