Circuit Court Makes Lorain County Report

Lorain county circuit judges reported to the bar on Friday with rulings on several probate and civil matters. In Laver versus Beal the circuit court sustained the lower court’s decision on disputed commissions from a 1897 partnership. The Breckinridge case involved removal of executor Durand amid fraud accusations tied to notes from a sold farm. the circuit court reversed the probate ruling, faulting the lower court for not requiring proof of fraud. Palmer and son versus Cowley affirmed the lower court on a mare dispute over alleged defects and hoof issues.

Disappearance in Bright family shocks city

Edna Bright, once Mrs Orson Humphrey, vanished Friday after failing to appear in police court for disorderly conduct. Witness against her in a malicious prosecution case, she allegedly attacked Edith Humphrey on the street. Other Brights, Charles and Fred, also left town recently, with Fred heading to New York.

Two Serious Accidents at the Levagood Home

Ex mayor M H Levagood fell seven steps to the cellar floor at his West River street home while preparing for a Second Congregational church trustees meeting. He suffered a base skull fracture and remained unconscious most of Friday night, with a fighting chance for life reported Saturday morning. Mrs S K Clarke, sister in law, followed an hour later when she descended the same stairs and fell headfirst, sustaining a scalp gash and a badly sprained ankle. her thick hair spared a more serious injury and she will be laid up for weeks.
