The Wellington Enterprise clarifies a county-tax note from June, stating commissioners did not issue 681 in hand for stone roads. Only a 1.4 mill levy was approved for road improvements, with collections to begin in December and the remaining half in June, and no workers were on hand for stone road building.

C. F. He had been supervising repairs on a disabled locomotive and was walking around the engine when he stepped in front of a passing train, was thrown over a hundred feet, and mangled.
Ex mayor My Kisson of Cleveland and several Columbus capitalists including Charles Gerrish and Char TL Ker have invested in oil fields in the area and plan to sink multiple wells. They reportedly will spend up to $1,000,000 if needed to develop the fields. A recently drilled well southeast of Hart shows indications of promise, supporting Mr. Davis's theory that the oil territory extends much farther than previously thought. A crowd of leases and prospectors, including G. My. Conttor and Samuel Dietrich, are active in the Medina Liverpool district with numerous names listed among lessees and investors for the upcoming development push.
The quail season opens with local sportsmen out in force. The law allows hunters to take only what they need for personal use and prohibits sale. Some wardens argue that even giving quail away could violate the law.
The funeral car bringing Mrs. Merrick’s remains drew crowds on West Broad Street as it toured Elyria. A separate security note describes an attempted burglary where about forty seven dollars were stolen from a cash drawer, with some money recovered.
A large frame house at No Hg East Bride Street owned by Mya B Teasdale and occupied by Bert Launder and Dr T Smith was badly damaged by a heavy fire shortly after 1 am on Thursday. The blaze, first discovered by WO H Elgar next door, spread from the kitchen to the main structure. Firefighters fought for two hours, saving some belongings but destroying Mrs Leasdale’s uninsured goods and nearly all of Mr Smith’s items. No definite cause yet. a gas stove had been unused for two days.
Dr Myre K Merrick the first practicing woman physician in Ohio died at her home 727 Case Avenue at 1 p m Friday aged 74 She came from England as a child and moved to Cleveland about 1850 In 1867 she established a homeopathic cure for women Funeral service was at her home Monday and burial followed at North Eaton Cemetery She leaves a son Richard Lyeck two sisters Mars Alfred Fauver of Oberlin and Mrs Capt Kooth of Carlisle and a brother Thomas King of North Eaton
