Elyria men led by G Sharp and W B Weret join forces with J G Hall H H Steck and Amos Steck to form Lorain Realty Co at Columbus. The firm plans to buy 263 acres south of Lorain once part of the old Lorain Stone Co property for about 75000 dollars. The tract, 700 to 800 lots, will be subdivided with boulevards water gas and an upscale housing district. The deal marks Lorain’s largest real estate purchase of the year and aims to boost suburban development with modern utilities and architecture.
Residents of Cleve land street serenaded Miss Helen Chapple and Melvin Bassett after they married in a Monday afternoon ceremony at the courthouse. Neighbors armed with horns pans bells and noise makers joined in as the couple, who wed after securing a license, began married life amid mixed reactions but broad good wishes for their future together.
The funeral of Mrs Nina Fields, 64, longtime Elyria resident, was held this afternoon at 1:30 at her East Avenue home. Her interment followed at Ridgelawn Cemetery, with many friends mourning her loss.
Burt Gemler, operating a corn husking machine at the hollow, was severely injured when his fingers were crushed by knives as he fed corn. Four fingers damaged, one likely to be amputated. Dr Charles Cushing attended him after he was brought to the city.
