Subways and Lines Planned for Lake Shore Electric

Lake Shore Electric plans a Elyria to Cleveland service with a tunnel to the public square and a Beach Park cut off route via South Lorain. The line will be double tracked Lorain to Cleveland and may include a subway from Elyria. Consolidation with Cleveland & Southwestern is discussed but not immediate.

Elyria Sawtells Face Contested Finish After Scrapped Game

Manager Fuller reports Elyria questioned late play in a game with the Sawtells. Timekeeper Lavelle stated two minutes remained as Elyria led 16 to 11. Sawtells agreed to pay a guaranteed amount if the game ended, then left the field. Elyria challenges weight dispute and offers a rematch on November 12 in Cleveland or neutral ground. Miss Anna Flannery visited Cleveland on business.

Minnie Kunitz Sues Wagner Over Liquor Sales to Son

The case before Judge Washburn involves Minnie Kunitz accusing William Wagner of selling intoxicating liquor to her son on fifteen occasions between 1903 and mid 1904 while he was under the legal age. Some counts were dismissed for nonconformance. others proceed with jury trials alongside a list of other cases.

Defendants Win In Will Contests In Ohio Case

The court ruled in favor of the defendants in the probate dispute over John McDowell Sr’s will dated May 3 1904. The plaintiff John McDowell Jr alleged undue influence by Wallace McDowell Etta McDowell and others to induce signing while the deceased was aged and ill. The living heirs named in the will include Henry McDowell William McDowell Nathaniel McDowell Richard McDowell James McDowell Hiram McDowell Charles McDowell Wallace McDowell Caroline Andress Phoebe Perris and others. Maud Andress visits Berlin Heights for a few weeks.

Comedy Turns Fire Drill at Dr Cushing Home

A small kitchen fire at the home of Dr Charles Cushing caused a noisy scene last week. Rev Crafts, visiting, ran downstairs and was drenched by a bucket of water while others alerted the fire department. The blaze was put out without outside help. The elder Dr Cushing calmly continued his meal during the incident.

October county finances show a positive balance

The county auditor reports October results with a beginning balance of 119733.95, a small overdraft at end of September of 134.38, receipts of 13112.97 and disbursements of 27069.50, leaving an October 31 balance of 105683.04 and no overdrafts in any fund.

Art Exhibit Opens by Elyria Art Club

The Elyria Art Club on 628 Broad Street opens its public exhibition with no admission charge. The display features just over 300 works in oils watercolors and crayons created by club members. The event aims to foster local appreciation of art with public support invited.

Mrs Marsh Injured From Fall At Home In Burlcourt

An elderly Burlcourt resident Mrs Anna Marsh aged 67 sustained several rib fractures after slipping in the bathtub and striking the tub edge. Dr Cushing attended the injury and the patient rests at home today. Earlier reports note a traveling salesman FR Lambright was hospitalized after a street car incident and another man attempted gas work causing a flare up.
