The Finance Committee trims departmental requests for the coming year. Public safety and police funding are debated with warnings that services cannot run on reduced amounts. Several department asks were lowered, including health and general fund levies, shaping a modest overall tax levy for 1906.
At the annual meeting of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church the senior warden and officers were elected. Bert Allen of Lorain was indicted for grand larceny by the grand jury. He allegedly stole a watch from a Solomon, his roommate, in Lecain Sunday. He was chased and captured as he fled along railroad tracks by means of a locomotive.
Judge Heyden dissolves the temporary injunction, siding with the school board and the Athletic Park Co in common pleas court. Attorneys plan appeal within ten days. if not appealed, the decision stands and park usage remains for school grounds with no disruption to students.
The board of service weighs two pump propositions, Allis-Chalmers and Snow, both 6,000,000 gallons per 24 hours, with identical high pressure cylinders. Investigations show identical size and design, Snow pump lighter by 6,000 pounds and $2,275 cheaper, but Snow uses more coal and steam due to independent air pump while both share the 22 x 36 high pressure relation.
