The Elyria Coal & Sewer Pipe company wins a contract to supply 1500 tons of coal for the pumping station at $1.10 per ton at the mine. The Grafton Stone company secures the contract for constructing the delinquent sidewalks in the city. W J Wadsworth company of Cleveland to install the tile floor at the pumping station for $107.

Elyria residents celebrated Saint Patrick with green attire and festive displays along the streets. Shamrocks adorned everyone as green gowns hats and shirts drew attention. Local bookstores reported record demand for green decorations with stock sold out.

Mrs Hurlbert Laid To Rest In Family Home Funeral

The funeral for Mrs Hurlbert of East River Street was held at the family home this afternoon after a typhoid fever illness. She died last Friday night at age 43, leaving a husband and a daughter about ten. Burial occurred at Ridgelawn.

A gas main on Sugar Ridge leaked and a boy lit a match, igniting escaping gas. The flare rose thirty feet before the boy fled down an alley. Fire crews arrived quickly and subdued the blaze as onlookers dispersed.
