Public Safety Board Sets Rules for Poles and Fire Departments

The board of public safety met Thursday afternoon and adopted rules governing poles and fire departments. Chief of police candidates will take a civil service exam on July 10. Child bitten by neighbor's dog in Eastavenua

The three year old child of R H Waterman of Eastavenua was severely bitten on the left forehand by a neighbor's dog on Wednesday morning. The injuries are not thought serious. Mr W Gray, recently employed in a Federal Mfg Co. department, left Tuesday evening for Duluth to begin a long tour of the east and northwest.

Women’s Auxiliary Officers Elected at YMCA Meeting

The Woman’s Auxiliary of the YMCA held a meeting on Tuesday to elect officers. Mrs. F. A. Smythe of Elyria was named president with Mrs. G. Breiner as first vice president and Mrs. M. Aliffevey as third vice president. Mrs. O. Colton was elected treasurer, and Mrs. Jutten was named chairman of the refreshment committee.

Levy of Twelve Million Pounds for City Debts

The board of tax commissioners has determined a levy of 12 million pounds to cover interest on bonded city debts and the new waterworks bonds. Total city indebtedness stands at 484,250 pounds.

Lake Shore Electric sets speed record run from Cleveland

The Lake Shore Electric completed a very fast run from Cleveland on Tuesday, cutting travel time by nearly two hours as cars between the points were streamlined. Philip Marti was granted divorce from Bobha Martin and Alice Atherton from Atherton in common pleas court on Tuesday, both on grounds of extreme cruelty, with Mrs Atherton awarded 100 alimony by agreement with the defendant.

Chromete Suit Against Foster Heads to Trial

The Chromete suit against Hon Parks Foster goes to trial in Lord's court next Monday morning amid town talk. Foster had sent a candidacy notice to county papers a month earlier asking that publication be postponed until the county convention. Paper bills followed. German Times Herald and Pho Repovety charged for notices, while Ely Republican billed $2.70 and Oberlin News $2.00. Foster refused to pay the Chronicle bill, claiming it was exorbitant, prompting the lawsuit.

Horses fall over bank in Cascade park incident

A team from Nanaway Bros. toppled over the bank in Cascade park on Wednesday morning. One horse named Waguite sustained severe injuries during the mishap.
