Vanderbilt Want Road Deal Could Lift Rail Rivalry
A New York financial note says the Vanderbilt family opened talks with Joseph Rumsey to buy the Lorain and Southern railroad now under construction in this county. The move follows Vanderbilt purchase of the Little Kanawha property tied to the Wabash interest, while Ramsey had prior ties to the line. If closed, the Vanderbilt path would link to the Kanawha mines, challenging Goulds who back the Lorain and West Virginia line.
