South Carolina Senate resignations test party principles
Editorial notes South Carolina senators Tillman and McLaurin resign to let voters decide their party stance in a statewide primary. The piece contrasts this with New York resignations and predicts a civil war over one or two parties, emphasizing open debate and voter judgment. Additional items discuss Elyria water works, council petitions, and lawyer Fred F. Thomis joining a Cleveland firm.
