July 24 Miss Magate Downhour and Warren Greenstreet proposed to sell their bodies to physicians for proceeds and to end life with chloroform. The physician refused to invest and notified police. The couple, Greenstreet a baker and Downhour daughter of once wealthy parents, were placed under surveillance. Downhour, who lost a fortune in oil speculation, is now in domestic service and says they are engaged.

Police officers fire at each other in Altoona clash
In Altoona Pennsylvania July 26 an on duty dispute between Patrolmen John McGee and George Weibley led to a public gunfight in a busy business district.
