Career-Ending Death of Toledo Mayor Samuel M. Jones
Samuel Milton Jones, four times mayor of Toledo and once Ohio governor candidate, died at his Toledo home after a long illness. He built the Golden Rose shop and workers program, created a model dining hall and kindergarten, and promoted a 50 hour work week. Jones won office in 1889 despite machine opposition, later served as mayor in 1901 and 1903, and left an estate valued at about 750000.

Fell Into Hold on Steamer I. W. Nichols
Sailor Albert Frank of Loraln fell from the spar deck to the hold bottom of the I. W. Nichols in harbor about 1 am. He suffered serious injuries but no bones were broken. He was rescued to the dock, Dr. Garver treated him, and he was sent to hospital for further care. The fall from spar deck to hold bottom covered 24 feet and risked fatal injury to a normal person. The end of his spine was injured and internal injuries may have occurred.

Family Keonlon Bock reunion at Eaton under tent
The Keonlon Bock family of Avon held their third annual reunion at Mr. Joel Cousins's home in Eaton on a July Monday.
