Horses Drowned in Black River at Lorain
The Cleveland and Sandusky Brewing Co of Lorain lost a bay team tied to a wagon while fetching ice for a Broadway cooler. The wagon slipped into the Black River above the round house bend as ice moved away, pulling horses under in minutes. Albert Wood oversaw the riverbank efforts. no blame attached. The horses valued about $300 were recovered with the wagon about half an hour later.
