A forthcoming sermon in Elyria promises startling revelations about local saloons. Rev Sala received a letter said to report that a police officer was seen entering a saloon with a young girl, prompting calls for investigation and action by temperance supporters.

J A Reublin the Cheapside grocer sells his store to P L Dunham of Oberlin and retires for a time. The new proprietor will take possession about March 1st. Reublin has run the business 18 years with a large patronage and his successor is a longtime successful grocer in Oberlin.
William Whitely, founder of a leading London department store, was shot and killed in his shop as a young man rushed him with a revolver. The assailant then killed himself, with no stated motive. Authorities and relatives recognized the killer, while witnesses noted no quarrel prior to the shooting.
Edwin S Mill, chief carpenter for the Lake Shore from Erie to Cleveland and from Ashtabula to Youngstown, died at his Andover home yesterday morning after suffering heart disease. The report notes his role with the railroad and reflects on the value of life and determination.
