Congressman W. S. Stiles died at his Shelby home on a Sunday afternoon after a bout with pneumonia. Survived by his wife Dora Matson, daughter Zanta, and brother M. A serious shooting occurred in Wellington at about 10 40 o clock Saturday when Claude Platt shot at his wife through the door of their residence. The bullet passed over her shoulder and narrowly missed the jugular vein in her throat. Platt, intoxicated, hammered and called for admittance before drawing his revolver and firing through the door.
