Petition Filed for Bankruptcy of Lorain Firm

Petition filed in the United States district court by Smunshine Cloak and Suit Company of Cleveland along with Charles E. Wilson of Elyria and George L. Lucky Boy Succeeds to Senate Post as Assistant Postmaster

A dispatch to The Reporter notes Charles B. Chamberlain son of State Senator Georges H. Chamberlain secured the newly created assistant postmaster of the Ohio State Senate post with a salary of 31 a week. The high school student will report next week amid congratulations from peers.

Change of Signals Urged by Train Dispatchers

Train dispatchers nationwide push abolishing written orders and unreadable signals. A. Senator Mason will introduce a congress bill to raise rural free delivery mail carrier pay from 500 to 760 dollars annually. He chairs the post office committee and the measure will be referred there. Miss Nettie Lukena died in Detain after a reported illness. coroner Fretch found no criminal cause and her body was sent to Grand Haven for burial. Health reporting for 1901 shows declines in Elyria and Braman figures

The 1901 health report notes Elyria lower than Samiary, Braman with half as many contagious disease cases as prior years, and total cakes reported at 67 versus 186 in 1900 and about 200 in 1899. Oberlin shows half the population and many more cases than Elyria.

Reverend P. A. Baker of the Anti saloon league expressed confidence the Clark local option bill or similar measure will pass. Joe Miller, agent for Ohio brewers, doubted any bill would endanger liquor interests. One of the two champions appears to have another guess coming.

Nagy Moved to Penitentiary After Court Proceedings

At the Court House Sheriff Warden transferred John Nagy the murderer to the penitentiary on Tuesday. He entered quietly, was searched and assigned a number, and will be cut off from life outside prison. Edwards divorce case heard this afternoon. wife accuses cruelty and drunkenness.
