Ex Councilman Baker Granted Bail Amid New Trial Call

Ex councilman D W Baker was released on bail and will face a new trial before the Circuit Court in April. Bail set at 5500 amid appeals over sentence suspension, with Baker having served two weeks in jail and leaving for his West Side home after bond was signed. The case drew wide county attention across Lorain Oberlin and nearby towns, centered on a conviction for an alleged crime against 15 year old Miss Lottie Reiger last summer.

SECTION HAND BADLY HURT IN HANDCAR ACCIDENT

Joseph Korvehek sustained critical injuries after slipping from a handcar and being dragged about fifteen feet. Former Oberlin Resident Narrowly Escapes Gas Death

Former Lorain County man H Heighton of Colorado Springs narrowly escaped death by gas in Fort Collins. He turned on a gas heater without lighting it, was found unconscious next morning, and revived after several hours of medical care. Heighton said an overdose of brom quinine left him unaware of his actions.
