Dr George Quigley of North Amherst was arrested on suspicion of insanity Friday and released by Judge Hinman Saturday. Neighbors doubt his sanity but relatives seek rest and transfer out of the county. He moved to a relative’s property west of town to start a stock farm and attempted to mortgage it later. He bought shoes from a Cleveland firm and planned a store in North Amherst. He appeared in Lorain and bought horses and claimed a saloon. sheriff later took him into custody. Quigley, once living on the West Side, quarrelled with his mother years ago and suffered a head injury. officials fear brain pressure affects his judgment.
William Lawrents, a Lake Shore detective, was arraigned before the mayor on Friday afternoon to answer the charge of disorderly conduct. Chief Whitney’s investigation said Lawrents assaulted an unknown man during a quarrel over a gun. He claimed self defense and that he was struck first. He admitted the affair but said there were willing accomplices moral failures. He faces a $50 fine to be paid in installments and will report to the court. Sessions for a local school to be held at Warren High starting soon.
A man described as Jack the Hugger assaulted a woman on Ying Street Lorain near Franklin Avenue Friday night after ten o clock He reportedly sprang from behind and hugged her three times despite her efforts Police intervened as the suspect fled toward Wing Street with the victim screaming for help.
Fred Edmonds of Oberlin sued for 15000 damages after injuries in the Cottesbrooke wreck on the C S W line July 18. The jury found for Edmonds with 4000 in damages after two hours deliberation. Several relatives were injured and two died in the same wreck. Heamiston Chadter of Newark made a bankruptcy filing with Sampson Gray as assignee.
