Detective Fined for Disorderly Conduct as Trial Opens
William Lawrents, a Lake Shore detective, was arraigned before the mayor on Friday afternoon to answer the charge of disorderly conduct. Chief Whitney’s investigation said Lawrents assaulted an unknown man during a quarrel over a gun. He claimed self defense and that he was struck first. He admitted the affair but said there were willing accomplices moral failures. He faces a $50 fine to be paid in installments and will report to the court. Sessions for a local school to be held at Warren High starting soon.

Fred Edmonds of Oberlin sued for 15000 damages after injuries in the Cottesbrooke wreck on the C S W line July 18. The jury found for Edmonds with 4000 in damages after two hours deliberation.
