Lorain County Firemen Hold Fifth Annual Convention in Wellington

The fifth annual Lorain County Firemen's Association convention in Wellington drew large crowds despite a power outage delaying arrival. President Buttenbender spoke, officers were re-elected, a big parade entertained about five thousand spectators, and events included hose laying won by Lorain No. 3, plus dances and water-throwing contests. The next meeting will be in North Amherst in August.

Electric line to Norwalk service opening slated in ten days

Officials announce through service to Norwalk will start in ten days. Since July, passengers from OBE and W must transfer at Birmingham due to an unfinished Vermillion river bridge. Likely schedules include Elyria with half hour cars to Oberlin and Cleveland and hourly to Wellington and Norwalk.

Lakeside resort sold at receiver sale to Toledo buyer

Lakeside summer resort including water works electric light plants cottages auditoriums hotel park and dining hall sold Wednesday to I M Huntsberger of Toledo for 84865. The New Lakeside camp meeting association trustees met after the sale to plan for the coming season. The resort will likely operate under similar plans next year as capital tax payments to Lakeside company coffers from transportation firms were successful. The past season reportedly drew the largest attendance in fifteen years.

Ten-year-old boy injured after stone crusher accident

Thomas McLaughlin, age ten, of Birmingham, was severely hurt Thursday when he fell into a stone crusher. He passed through the bucket carrier and chute into a wagon, suffering a broken nose, missing teeth, and bruises with feared internal injuries. No explanation for the near-tragic incident is given.

Lorain county soldiers hold reunion and awards

The Lorain County Soldiers and Sailors association held its annual reunion at the fair grounds. S A Williams of Wellington was elected president, H O Fifield secretary treasurer, and a vice president from each township. Congressman W W Skiles delivered the day’s address to a large audience before 1:30 pm. A divorce suit was filed by Harvey O Congdon against Alice Congdon for cruelty and infidelity.
