Aug 18 North Amherst Dr WN HL Cornell reports a huge snake on the Lake Shore near Oak Point. The creature six inches thick, over twelve feet long, paused to inspect the road before slithering into a ditch then away toward the north. Local sightings had earlier occurred east of Amherst near Anthony Ernst and No 9 quarry.

Runaway Horse Causes Speed Panic on Broad Street
A delivery horse owned by Lamdon Bros. ran wild on Broad Street near Eastage Friday around two o'clock. The animal kicked and dashed toward Hotel Toplift before the driver regained control near the hotel. The wagon and harness suffered considerable damage as the horse tangled in the gear, delaying detachment and rescue.
