Elyria Forger Arrested in Michigan

L. H. Barlow was arrested last night in Grand Rapids Michigan on forgery charges connected to altering a $1.65 check to $360.7b. He formerly worked for the B and O railroad in Lorain and was sought by Detective Moses Price. He pleaded not guilty and was bound over to the grand jury under $1,000 bond.

New School Established to Relieve Congestion in Township 8

Township TRUSTEES open a new district No. 8 school at Green Line Junction to serve 34 pupils. Mrs. G. L. Kauftman hired as teacher at 40 dollars monthly, 8 months yearly. Building cost 800 dollars. desks and blackboard purchased from Thomas B. Seavey Co. Ginn & Co. texts adopted. total seven teachers in township.

Lorain County Teachers Institute to Meet in Elyria

The Lorain County Teachers Institute will be held in Elyria from August 28th to September 1st. Instructors include Dr H G Minnich from Ohio State Normal Oxford, Miss Mary H Prentice and Mary B Merritt from Cleveland Normal. Daily sessions run 3 30 to 11 20 p m and 1 to 3 36 p m with morning and afternoon segments split into primary and grammar divisions.

Mayor Tom's Chooter Fined for Speeding

Kohler Refuses to Arrest Citizens for Other City

Elyria police sent a list of twelve Cleveland prominent citizens to Chief Kohler asking arrests for speeding in Elyria. Kohler declined, saying his officers cannot arrest non residents for a crime in another city and that Elyria must send its own officers. He noted police judges ruled automobile law must prove willful violation and his bicycle patrols will continue enforcement.
