Fire Damages Room At West Second Street Home
A mysterious blaze broke out Friday night in a second floor room at the home of G. E. Hancock on West Second Street. Georges Bates, a roomer, occupied the room where a clothing box caught fire from an unknown source. Flames spread to other items before the fire was discovered and extinguished by the fire department. No cause or person is identified and occupants speculate no one was in the room during the afternoon and evening.

Miss Margaret Joyce head waitress at the Hotel Andwur received news that her mother Mrs. Bridget Toyes of Cleveland was fatally burned while filling lamps on Friday. Coleman bound over on false pretense charge
M. E. Coleman, a colored man arrested at Lorain for obtaining money under false pretenses, has been bound over to the court of common pleas under a $1,000 bond. He was brought to the county jail Friday. Coleman is alleged to have collected funds in Lorain under the pretense of aiding the colored M. E. church in this city.
