In Elyria a carpenters strike threatens a citywide labor action as unions demand pay from 3.50 to 4 dollars per day. About half of 159 local carpenters are union members while nonunion workers resist the raise, and meetings are scheduled to decide further steps.

Mrs H Irish aged ninety years died Saturday at home of daughter Mrs John Irish at 73 East Erie avenue Lorain. Death attributed to infirmities of old age she was one of the pioneer residents of Lorain county and probably the oldest resident. She was born in Oswegatchie N Y settled in Avon Ohio later moved to Lorain in 1836 and had lived there ever since. Mr Irish died twenty one years ago and Mrs Irish has resided at the homestead with her daughter Mrs John Owen.
Mrs. Jane Tyler, linked to a fever scare after exposure, did not reach Wellington or Wellington trains. C Probst of the state health board said the disease is not contagious and no alert was needed, easing city restrictions on her entry.
Members of the United Presbyterian mission plan a 7:36 PM meeting Tuesday in Maccabee hall to organize a congregation. They will discuss buying lots on Eastern Heights and erecting a church building with Rev. R. H. Park of Cleveland Presbytery and Rev. J. R. J. Milligan of Cleveland attending.
The Arat wild flowers of the season were picked in the few days before Sunday's cold spell. Hyacinths decorate Elyria homes and line river banks in local areas as the first flowers to appear after frost. Those not picked for Easter were nursed by recent wintry weather.

On Broad street a dispute erupted when Chief Smith and officers sought to search William Wagner's drug store for illegal liquor sales. Mayor Chapman was away and acting mayor Smith could not be located, so no search warrant could be produced. Officers heard bottles emptied in a rear room but could not enter as the door was barred. No further action was taken at the time.
John Newberry, manager of Bell Telephone, is transferred to oversee the Middletown plant. Mr. Callaway will lead the Akron district local office until a successor is named. Newberry has lived in Elyria three years, earning many friends, and this move is described as a promotion in every sense.
A large tree in the yard of J. W. Vogel on Middle Avenue toppled onto his house during an attempt to remove it. Workers cut too many roots, the tree struck the house, shattered the chimney, tore off shingles, and bricks flew outward. No one was injured.
Census figures show U S divorce statistics with 1887 to 1907 recording about 1.4 million divorces. For the earlier period divorce ordinances stood at 33 per 100000, rising to 70 per 100000 in the later twenty years. Decrees are issued in about two thirds of suits filed.
Eighty members of the blue lodge and thirty three Templars accompanied the remains of George Mapes to Elyria cemetery for a highly attended Easter funeral. Local Masons, including visiting brethren, brought the attendance to over 200 with many railroad colleagues and old associates among the mourners. Floral tributes were abundant and Masonry represented in full by 48 orders. The service, led by Rev. W. T. Tee, was conducted by chaplain.
