Negro Brute Dragged From Jail Murder on Leavenworth Road
A mob of forty masked men dragged Richard Woods from Leavenworth county jail after overpowered guards and smashed the jail with sledgehammers. Woods, who assaulted Mary Eddleman, was hung from a saddle and left dead on Third Street Prospect. Clothing stripped, minor head wound the only marks remaining. The mob traveled south for over a mile before discarding the body.
