The piece argues that agricultural production, especially corn in Ohio, drives national wealth and growth. It cites Ohio’s vast arable land, compares export volumes from Cleveland, Sandusky, Huron, Toledo, Cincinnati, Portsmouth, and Ashland, and notes 1846 wheat and corn yields and export surpluses. It highlights substantial corn output, sizable wheat crops, rising wool exports, and whisky shipments as major Ohio exports, underscoring agricultural strength as the foundation of prosperity.
