The Kentucky Desert Dream in a Civil War Tale
A lush frontier vignette follows Anne Hungerford as she treks to Hungerford's woods to meet a legendary hero, Andrew Jackson. A dramatic rescue unfolds when a pistol shot wounds Anne, and Jackson arrives to bear her to safety, while staged by a tense, morally charged ambience echoing May Stannard Baker.

Norumbega Trial Impresses Maine Central Officials
The Norumbega trial at Bath on July 25 impressed railroad officials and builders Kelley-Spear Co and Bath Iron Works. The steamer completed five laps on the Southport mile course, beating the contract speed by one tenth of a mile with smooth engines and low vibration. It will soon enter service replacing the Pemaquid on the Desert Ferry to Bar Harbor route. Capt Dickson will command the vessel, and the Pemaquid will shift to Rockland Castine once Norumbega arrives, altering the timetable.
