Fire Devastates Town of Deeth in Early Morning Blaze

A severe fire swept through the two story hotel on Main Street in Deeth in the early hours. Wind and lack of fighting capacity allowed the blaze to destroy the hotel and adjacent buildings including the post office, Nicelys store, a dwelling, restaurant and Truett s saloon. J H Clancy, trapped inside, escaped from a second story window and later traveled to Elko for medical care. Estimated damages range from 15000 to 20000 dollars.

Women Undaunted by Jersey Defeat

New Jersey voters rejected a constitutional suffrage amendment by a two to one margin in a special election. supporters vow future campaign work and aim to back legislators who will allow women to vote for presidential electors.
