Amsterdam dispatch on October 13 notes Deputy Muller in a censorship debate at the Reichstag likening Nazi policy to the worst times of Rome. He cites official paper prescriptions, mock justice, arbitrariness, and growing disharmony in imperial leadership and with the trade unions.
The trial of Ed Beck for complicity in the murder of Jarbidge stage driver Fred Searcy proceeds toward a jury verdict likely by Monday night or Tuesday. The state rests its case and the defense presents witnesses J A Yewell J C Hil Newton Crumley and A L Dodge with depositions read by several attorneys.
London reports a heavy night rain continuing with no enemy counterattacks on the battle front. There is nothing notable to report from the rear of the British front as of dawn.

William R. Munday, longtime Western Union manager and former sheriff candidate, was appointed Clark County sheriff by the county commissioners Saturday. The action follows District Judge Charles Lee Horsey leaving the office after charges filed by former Justice of the Peace V. H. Harkin, the court decision issued Friday morning.

The Reno National Bank bought $100,000 in liberty bonds and ex Senator W A Clark of Montana $50,000 via a Tonopah bank for Nevada credits.
Fire last night gutted a grain elevator on the Brooklyn waterfront owned by a New York deck company, destroying 160000 bushels of grain. Authorities suspect a bomb and are investigating to determine the cause amid wartime tension.
The Metropolis Land Co. keeps constant guards on the big reservoir in Emigrant canyon after suspicious prowlers were seen near the dam. Mr. Wiley ordered 24 hour protection and deputies Wiley and L F Hatch were appointed with arrest powers for trespass near the property.
Riggle a Southern Pacific car repairer at Sparks defies the draft by refusing to report for medical examination. He filed affidavits against the government citing political religious conscientious and other grounds. The exemption board meanwhile filed the documents with Federal District Attorney Woodburn who may act only after he fails to report for duty. If he misses the call he faces desertion charges.
The regular Saturday night dance will be held at the Bradley Opera House after the show. New music has been secured for the orchestra and a floor manager will oversee dancers. Tickets are 60 cents for men while ladies are admitted free.

War department details orders to transfer 1 0400 men from the national army to national guard divisions. Nebraska South Dakota will provide 2000 men to the thirty fourth division from Camp Funston. Camp Lewis will supply 2000 from California Nevada and Utah. Camp Funston will furnish 6000 men from Colorado New Mexico and Arizona.
Chicago defeated New York 6 to 4 in the fifth game as pitchers Russell Cicottee Williams and Faber appeared for the Sox against Sallee and Perritt of the Yankees. Next game set for New York. The Red Cross received an $8000 Nevadan donation from Tonopah Mining Co. toward the war fund. Austrian colors black and yellow tied to Holy Roman Empire via Frederick Barbarossa.
