Water for Farms at Lovelock A Call for Relief Effort
The Nevada state council of defense urged Gov. Boyle and Gov. Oddie to secure water from the Lovelock reservoir to irrigate drying wheat lands. A 1200 acre Rogers ranch tract faces near total loss, with smaller plots in danger. Stockholders in Humboldt Lovelock Irrigation, Light and Power Co were asked to surrender 800 feet of water impounded for this purpose. W. Put and John G. Taylor signaled willingness to divest water needs, aiming for private action by other shareholders. A government inquiry also began into a rabies report among coyotes in Humboldt and Elko counties.
