Paris June 14 General Pershing's first day in the city featured continuous demonstrations as soldiers cheered him and the Second Cavalry escort. He visited Napoleon's room, met President Poincare, and attended the presidential state breakfast.

Captain Harry Jones son of County Commissioner H J Jones arrived from the west for a short visit with his father in Elko He plans to depart for Fort Riley Kansas soon He has just returned from the Philippines where he served in the army He is a product of Elko and University of Nevada and Cornell He is in the cavalry and may move to artillery and become a Major before year end His brother Leslie Jones is with General Pershing in Texas and may also see France This family is praised as a credit to Elko and American citizenship with many old friends hoping for a safe return from the war

In a House of Commons statement Andrew Bonnar Law said fifty people were killed and many injured by an explosion in Ashton Under Lyne near Manchester. The town is a munitions manufacturing center.
Judge Taber and County Commissioner Fred Voight named the grand jurors for July 10. The session will hear multiple criminal cases including the murder of the far bridge stage driver last winter.
