The Board of County Commissioners orders the County Treasurer to sell at public auction all property bought in by the County at tax sales. Properties valued over five dollars will be advertised. those under that amount will be sold without notice. The County Auditor will provide a certified list within ten days.
Havre, Dec 27. The American Mag, arriving here, reported a German submarine halted the steamer in the English Channel and demanded papers. After inspecting the papers, the captain was allowed to proceed. The submarine warned that wheat bound for France could have been seized and remarked it was fortunate the ship was American.
Sweden has sent a note to belligerent and major neutral governments indicating its support for the Wilson note. The message, reported by the Berliner Tageblatt, signals official Swedish endorsement of President Wilson’s proposals.
Newport December 27 A report from search vessels confirms no survivors from the Steamer Maryland crew of thirty one. Wireless advices say rescuers reached the sinking location after Christmas night flooding of the engine room and operator's area. Wreckage and lifeboats found about three hundred fifty miles offshore.
Tokio Dec 27 A Japanese steamship Sankaku lies ashore off Chefoo on the China coast with about four hundred passengers aboard including two Americans. Rescue efforts are underway as officials seek details and aid to save the passengers and crew.
