Elko Red Cross Seeks Regular Support At Meeting

A crowded Elko County Red Cross gathering at the county courthouse discussed fundraising and reports from officers and auxiliaries. Attorney General Opinions On School Salaries And Contracts

The Attorney General has issued two interpretive opinions on school laws. One says trustees or county boards of education must pay teachers and are liable for retirement fund dues if not deducted, with teachers likewise liable to those officials. The other states that a teacher’s contract survives consolidation and may be enforced, requiring consolidated district trustees to give legal notice for contract termination.

Plan to spend two million on Liberty Loan ads

Washington August 16 details a plan to advertise the next use of Liberty Loan Bonds in newspapers and other media. Run Out of Lovelock Arrives in Winnemucca

Charles H. McKinnon and a companion were escorted from Rochester by Lovelock citizens, placed in a car, taken to Lovelock, then boarded Southern Pacific No. 10 to Winnemucca. Deported after Lovelock merchants reported a disruptive campaign. About fifty Lovelock men armed allegedly set out to Rochester to end McKinnon's agitation.
