Washington Aug 13 The government will take over this year's entire wheat crop if necessary to conserve a supply for America's fighting forces. Hoover announced the food administration will exercise complete control over this year's harvest though the two dollar minimum price for wheat fixed by Congress takes effect next year.

Death calls Nevada editor Harroun at 57
Edward Rawson Harroun editor and publisher of the Silver State died suddenly at his Winnemucca home from a stroke of apoplexy. He was 57, survived by his wife and a Wisconsin mother, with a son and daughter in Minnesota. Harroun, a longtime newspaper man, moved to Winnemucca eight years ago and led the Silver State as manager and later proprietor. He had been active in politics and public affairs and belonged to the Nevada Press Association. Humboldt Star notes his service as secretary of the association.

Fire destroys annex front room as residents flee in bare feet
LeMar and two waitresses at the Commercial occupied a front room in the annex when a blaze trapped them. They escaped with ten kimonos and bare feet, losing clothing, cash about 350 dollars, and jewelry. A lodger escaped in trousers with 30 dollars in his coat.
