Shale Authority Plans Elko Visit by C Pratt

C Pratt, president of North ern OS Co, will arrive to inspect shale beds south of Elko. A renowned mining and geology engineer, he may consider buying shale land to build a plant if indications justify the expense. His visit follows involvement with Wyoming oil field interests led by A K Clayton. His findings will be published after examinations.

Hazelton 16 Fined Hundred Dollars by Food Administrator

Hazelton, formerly of Elko now in Salt Lake City and partner in Intermountain Wholesale, was fined 100 by County Food Administrator Frank Middleton for distributing wheat four named with insufficient substitutes. Hazelton claimed no intent to violate rules, while Middleton noted frequent shipments compelled the penalty. The fine remains unpaid and Hazelton may contest.

Federal court frees Thomas in disorderly conduct case

In Chicago on April 19 the disorderly conduct charge against Professor William Thomas and Mrs. Mor Granger was dismissed. Attorney Clarence Darrow argued that mere presence together in a hotel room does not prove disorderly conduct, and the court agreed. Professor Thomas, noted authority in his field, was released.

Carson City April 18 No elk shipped by the government to Nevada this year A lettered by George Bradigan secretary of state from Senator Pittman says that he had a conference with Superintendent Mather in Yellowstone park and was informed that the season for taking elk has passed and that no more will be shipped till next winter Senators Pittman advises Douglas county officials to file a new application to prevent delays so shipments will start as soon as the next season opens Mrs Granger is the wife of a Texas soldier serving in France.
