Lake Shore Fireman Elmer Troxel Dies After Whiting Accident
Lake Shore fireman Elmer L. Troxel of 210 North Third Street died from injuries suffered near Whiting Indiana last evening around 7 15. He was in the engine gangway and is believed to have been struck by a stationary mail crane. The No 66 second section engine 714 crew included Engineer Joe Luz Conductor H H Andrews and brakemen Calvin Fierick and T A Johnson. Troxel was watching the semaphore when the accident occurred. He was found unconscious about 300 feet west of Whiting station and died shortly after a doctor pronounced no hope.
