Judge Van Fleet to Name Elkhart Bailiff for Superior Court

After eight years in the police force William J. Stamp will quit to become the first bailiff of the Superior Court appointed by Judge V W Van Fleet at the September term opening. Salary cited at 75 dollars monthly. Other court appointments to follow as the new tribunal is organized.

Fines Paid In Immoral Housing Cases In St Joseph

Owners of buildings at 612 South Main and 205 South Main faced fines after tenants Eva Russell and "Mother" White were linked to immoral enterprises. Girl Is Gone Reported Elopement of Hayes and VanLue

Lee Weaver reports the disappearance of his stepdaughter Mabel L Hayes aged fourteen and his son-in-law Frank VanLue aged twenty, believed to have left together this morning after being seen in the streets. Police alerted in several cities to apprehend the pair.

Can Superior Court Call Grand Jury

State's Attorney Joseph F. Talbot of South Bend plans to ask Judge Van Fleet of the superior court to convene a special grand jury. The move tests whether a superior court judge has power to call a grand jury as a circuit judge, a question not answered by law.
