A letter from Sergt. Harry Goldman says the box sent by citizens to Company E arrived Wednesday in good condition. The express prepaid on the box was $7.40. All the boys were reported well and eager to depart for Cuba.
The Goshen county democratic central committee met Saturday to set a date for the county convention. They decided on a mass convention to be held in the courtyard on Thursday July 21.
George H. Storey, chairman of the Wuaporte county committee, buys Arthur Peters interest in Hughes Peters publishers of the Daily and Weekly Bulletin at Laporte.
Delegates for the repullcan district convention to be held in Rochester on June 23 are allotted as follows Elkhart 31 Fulton 12 Kosciusko 22 Marshall 15 Pulaski 7 St Joseph 26 Starke 6 totaling 129 delegates.

Jonas O Hoover Elkhart attorney and former disbarment defendant was attacked by William Tickert husband of a former client last evening near South Main street. Tickert allegedly punched Hoover after a confrontation near Hayden’s barber shop, then fled. Hoover says Tickert may settle the back child support and notes possible intoxication.
Residents near Sixth street and Indiana avenue report a two year old child fell beneath a frightened horse at about 6 pm. The horse reared and struck the child, but the victim escaped with only a slight injury. Police and neighbors assisted as the animal was driven away.

Jonss O Hoover faced a tense confrontation with William Tekker in a lawyer’s office this morning. Tekker locked the door as he entered and Hoover hid behind Judge Thies, demanding the attorney stop molesting him. Desk Sergt Danbar arrived by phone but left before action was needed.
New Yorkers J. H. Noggle and William Holland rode through the city yesterday afternoon en route across the continent. Dressed in Rough Riders style for pleasure, they directed their mail to be sent to Chicago. Holland is said to be related to the inventor of the noted submarine boat frequently in the papers.
President appoints Joseph H. Heatwole mayor of Goshen as chief commissary of subsistence with major rank. Rollo B. Oglesbee of Plymouth named to signal corps as first lieutenant. Heatwole salary set at 2500 dollars annually.

Contracts with the balconist and multiple bands including Rogers Band of Goshen and Goshen City band were discussed. a 875 float from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen was requested and a large municipal carnival is anticipated.
At the carnival king's headquarters work continues on the queen's float and the royal escort chariots. The Brotherhoods of Firemen and Engineers are crafting a grand display with emblems and scrollwork. Woodmen of the World have also submitted artistic designs aimed to be a standout winner.
