On a Saturday evening a tense arrest at a rural home led to a violent confrontation. Constable Dwight was wounded and later found to have a useless arm. Wm Livengood sustained a head wound and possible bullet injury while Mrs Livengood and bystanders reported scuffles as neighbors aided and prevented further harm.

Fire damages a two story frame building on Main and Division
A morning blaze at the corner of Main and Division destroyed the rear of a two story frame building housing John Heffner plumbing on the ground floor and the Brandons above. Flames from a gasoline stove tank caused rapid spread injuring Mr Brandon and ruining contents. Heffner and Dettling stock damaged. Perry L Turner owned building insured for 1200. Mrs Brandon and Mrs Logan lost much personal property. Brandons uninsured.

Mrs Katie Mae Wilcox nee Miller died at 12 15 this afternoon at her aunt Mary Hawley 209 South Third street from consumption after a lingering illness. She was 35 and survived by husband Lyman A Wilcox and a brother Herbert Miller of Milford Junction. They married less than a year ago. She had been ill since winter with January trip to Chicago for treatment and return home. Daughter of Mr and Mrs James Miller long time Hikhart residents. Funeral arrangements not yet completed.
