Audacious theft at Mitchell Walker clothing store
Thieves entered through a transom at 209 South Main and stole coats vests and overcoats totaling about 150. Proprietors Benjamin Mitchell and Harry Walker reported the loss at 7 am after patrolman saw no break at 4:15 am. Exit was via the rear door. A trousers sized 32 by 42 was found on the counter with signs of fitting. The robbers appear to be young men familiar with the shop.

Miss Mabel Snyder trapped on the third floor of the Nickless block during a fire caused by a leaking gasoline stove was rescued at noon by Griffin’s grocery clerk Cecil Berlin and helper Ed Lybarker. Fire originated in rooms occupied by Mr and Mrs Ostatag on the second floor prompting dense smoke and a frantic cry for help. Berlin forced two doors and found Snyder on the floor. he then carried her to safety as smoke filled the area.

Shortly after dinner Mrs Ostatag called Central Fire Station as a fire started on the first floor near Pratt Street. Box 9 summoned Central and Hose Company. Water damages to Mr Parke's wholesale nation store below the burned rooms estimated at about $50. No injuries to the Ostatags. The building owned by Mrs Mary F Nickles is fully insured as is Mr Parke's stock.

Fred Snyder 21 pleaded guilty to assault on his wife Lottie Osborne 18 after their Thanksgiving 1903 engagement and marriage. Judge Raymer delayed verdict for more evidence. Snyder fined 15 dollars plus costs as Mrs Osborne testified amid hysteria after an alleged attack.
