Relief funds and army relief efforts in San Francisco

Officials and the relief committee led by John D. Phelan agreed to centralize funds and tasks with the army taking charge of food distribution policing hospital care and temporary care. Maj. Gen. Greely warned the army is overtaxed while noting continued support from Secretary Metcalf and city leaders. Retail trade in affected areas resumed as rebuilding and deposits proceed. total relief funds reached 2 806 456.05 with 2 115 716.05 from out of town sources and local subscriptions at 190 700.

Century Club mobilizes aid for San Francisco relief

Tables overflow with clothing blankets and comforters gathered by seven women's clubs led by Mrs Cyrus Joys to aid San Francisco sufferers. Donations include $50 from Elk members and shipments planned for Friday as special committees meet at 8:30 AM in the Century Club basement.

Northern Indiana Railway to Accept New Franchise

Goshen council plans a revised franchise granting a one block loop on Clinton Fifth Main and Lincoln avenues with conditions for interurban use. Foster-Kimball Machine Co. plans to manufacture BE De Wallix voting devices in Mount Vernon with ten machines this year and a new department on the factory’s second floor.
