Lightning Fire Destroys Barn on Winer Farm North of Edwardsburg
A lightning strike last evening hit the barn at Sam Winer’s Edwardsburg road farm two miles north of town, splitting the roof and igniting the structure. With no firefighting means, the barn and its contents were lost, valued at about 800 dollars with 400 insured. Caspar Lipshitz works the farm. Frank Brandon and family occupy the house. Two horses and sixteen cattle were removed. harness, hay, and rye were destroyed. the blaze lit the sky for miles across the flatlands.
