Marshal Proctor arrested John Murphy on suspicion of burglary on September 1 but discharged him. Battle Creek sent word a man of Murphy’s description robbed a jewelry store for about 2000 dollars. Murphy returned, was arrested, and sent to Battle Creek after transfer to the Calhoun county Sheriff.
