Twenty three residents from Elgin attended a Sunday afternoon gathering at the Pofratz home near Sumner, indicating local community participation and planning.
Miss Ella Lehman of Waterloo stayed with her sister Mrs J H Williams of Fairbank Advocate this week. Hog cholera outbreaks reported near Hawkeye with seven sick from a 27 head herd. 20 vaccinated. Elgin Band serenaded W H Penfield, fag pole sitter, at Strawberry Point. many bands perform during endurance contest. 1926 dollar value rises. labor statistics say it buys 15% more goods than then, 14% more than a year ago. Carl Nesteby escaped injury after a nose-dive off an eight foot embankment Sunday evening near the river bottom road junction with Elgin-Wadena road. car wrecked.
Oak Grove residents hosted and visited many relatives and friends in a weekend pattern of calls and meals. Families from Forest City Fayette Sumner West Bend Elgin and Decorah joined locals, with multiple households hosting birthday and social occasions across several days. Floyd Knudtson heads to Ames for studies as others travel for work and connection.
The Sunday school will meet at 11 o clock with usual services omitted due to conference Sunday requiring the pastor to be absent until Monday. The conference will convene at Davenport. Canvases for next year’s budget are nearly complete with increased giving and new names among supporters. An official board meeting is set for Monday evening at 8 at the church to address next year’s business and another important matter requiring a large majority of the board.
J J Snyder minister and La Fonda Shaffer pianist report no Sunday school or preaching next Sunday due to conference. Readings will be Monday noon. Ladies Aid supper Friday Sept 26 at 6 30 pm. Orchestra will play for banquet at St Olaf that evening. Thanks for pledges and new ones. Church work closes with grateful reflection.
Baptist church notes announce English services at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. with Sunday school at 11 a.m. B P U prayer meeting at 7:30 p.m. Rev. A A Rideout from Manchester will preach September 29 to October 12 with daily meetings except Saturday. Music and specials planned. Sunday school graduation exercises postponed to October 5 with Pastor Ph. Lauer.

After improving, plans were made for special reduced Globe Boy ranges and local hardware ads. Fire damage at Frieden home noted hay and grain losses with insurance details and old artifacts found. Local visits include Madison guests, cottage rental on Adamia Street, and Milltown visitors. George Nydegger named creamery manager at Fairbank with Lew Ross leaving after a week. Nydegger praised for prize butter work and expected to uphold creamery standards.
