Subscription rates are 2.00 per year for four Northeast Iowa counties and 2.50 per year for all outside above territory, payable in advance. Advertising rates are per line ten cents with a weekly minimum or thirty cents minimum charge. Blind ads and inquiries cost fifty cents per week. Cards of Thanks and In Memoriam are one dollar, with obituary poetry and resolutions charged at regular rates.

Fred Rothlisberger born January thirtieth eighteen sixty five in Fayette county near Elgin spent eighty two years on his lifelong farm. He married Mabel Jessie Humphry in nineteen hundred and ninety seven and had Ruth Otis and Stephen Dryer as family. He died September fifteenth at Palmer hospital West Union after years of declining health aged over eighty four. funeral held at Muehlethaler funeral home and Illyria church with burial in Illyria cemetery.
Gunder Halverson and companions spend a week in Chicago visiting Kronberg and Nelson homes. Harold Martin, infant son of Lloyd and Ruth Loftsgard, is baptized at Marion Lutheran Church with sponsors Harry Amundson and DeVere Halverson. After services, a dinner followed at the Loftsgard home.

Glen Schupbach of Moline visited Thursday with Mrs. Anna Schupbach and stayed a week. Many locals hosted or visited relatives in Dubuque Guttenberg Spencer and beyond, with trips to Rolette North Dakota and San Diego planned for Navy service. The Lenth family announced a move from Charles City to York Pennsylvania on October 1.
Mr and Mrs DeWayne Medberry moved to an apartment in Oelwe and hosted guests at the Walter Medberry home. Saturday visitors included Mr and Mrs DeWayne Medberry and other families. Lyle Light and Letha enjoyed a trip to Gays Mills Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon. Elsie Popenhagen returned from two weeks with relatives in Oelwein and Fayette and was joined by Mr and Mrs George Popenhagen for a visit at the Walter Medberry home. They also called at the Don Page home.
Sheron Wentz spent the week end at her home in Luana, gathering rest and familiar surroundings.
Mildred Benson spent the weekend at her Cresco home. Mr and Mrs Willis Schulte of Prairie du Chien Wis were overnight guests Saturday of the Donald Gilson family. Fred Schupbach of Riverside Cal and Mr and Mrs Albert Schupbach joined Ruth and Lena Schupbach for Sunday evening with Mrs Alvina Frieden. Bertha Lehman received a letter from Mrs A D Schantz of Center Colo stating they moved to Saguache Colo to do missionary work in the Spanish Baptist church there. she is the former Ethel Rennison.
