Millard E Muehlenthaler age 56 of St Paul Minnesota died after brain surgery at Miller hospital on Sunday Sept 9 He was a 23 year salesman for Beauticians Supply Co native of Elgin Iowa and had lived in St Paul 50 years He belonged to Montgomery Masonic lodge 254 Jewel chapter Royal Arch Masons Arlington Hills Lutheran Church where he served as trustee and assistant head usher Funeral services were at 2 p m Tuesday at Arlington Hills Lutheran Greenbrier St and Geranium are He is survived by his widow Evelyn a daughter Sharon a sister Mrs Herbert Hamlin Culver City California and a brother Leo St Pauli
Pleasant Point Study Club met on Sept 6 with Mrs Orran Bane. Election results named Mrs Merton Strong president and others. A cancer film at Illyria Church Sept 17 at 8 pm was RSVP’d by Mrs Eugene Wenger. Next meeting set for Oct 12 at Emmett Light home with sock auction and Court Whist.
The Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting at Valley High School on September 26 at 7 pm. The gathering will include election of officers and reports on local agriculture.
The Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau Homemakers met September 14 at Mrs. Edward Krueger’s home with 22 members and guests. Devotions and program topics covered Federal Aid to Education, World Learning, and officer qualifications. Mrs. Frieden became township chairwoman with Mrs. Lyle Martin as vice chair, and new publicity chair Mrs. Laurence Gehring. lunch planned for Helms Here- Wednesday.
Mrs Ray Potter, county publicity chairman, spoke on the year’s program as the group praised its Book of Events, winning third place in the county and a prize of 1 dollar. New officers will attend Fayette meeting October.
Duane H. Halverson 35 Moorhead Minn salesman died Sept. 9 in Fargo N D after a weeklong illness of bulbar polio. Funeral Sept. 12 at First Lutheran Decorah with Rev. Alvon Nelson officiating. Burial Lutheran Cemetery. Survivors include wife Inga Tolletsrud half Decorah and children Bruce Dale Paul Jay Rhonda and two brothers Harry and Sidney.

The Illyria Clipperettes held a regular meeting at the Illyria Church starting at 1 30 pm with president Iva Fellar presiding. A recipe item lists ingredients for a Mixing Bowl Frosted Strawberry Salad using strawberry and lemon gelatin, frozen strawberries, pineapple juice, cream cheese, crushed pineapple, and whipped heavy cream. Directions mention dissolving jello in boiling water, adding fruit, and chilling until set.
Dillute lemon jello with one cup boiling water then add pineapple juice. Combine with enough water to make four cups liquid and cool. Beat with softened cream cheese and pineapple, chill until slightly thick. Fold in whipped cream. Layer cream cheese atop firm strawberry layer and top with chopped nuts. Miss Janice Westendorf and Richard M. Clark married in a double ring ceremony at First Christian Church Oelwein with Rev Samuel R Wall officiating at 7 30 pm Mrs Westendorf wore a brown cashmere sheath and beige jacket accessorized in brown with a white glamellas corsage.
The bride wore an orange gramella corsage and both the bridegroom and best man wore blue suits. Wayne Klug served as best man. Mr. Clark, with the U S Navy, will return to Kamis eya Japan to be stationed for twenty months, and Mrs. Clark will join him later.
Mrs Cornelius Reierson traveled to Chester for a Sunday visit with the Maynard Ladwig household and attended the Saturday eve wedding of Carolyn Ladwig to Damon Kintz at United Lutheran Church Chester. The Reiersons stayed with Cora Olson and Emily Osland in Le Roy and dined with Maynard Ludwig in Chester before returning home Sunday evening.
