Outlook for 811 projects approval lags in Iowa
Iowa State News and Views reports only 26 of 311 projects submitted to Washington for PWA approval by the weekend, with 102 rejected. Protests from Iowa contractors may lead to appeals to President Roosevelt as officials note 4.1 million in costs and 2,055 jobs for approved projects. The piece also notes Grand Army honor for Oleg Nelson of Slater and possible Iowa legislature special session over employment security acts. A gold-bearing rock found near Irwin sparks assayer analysis, with earlier Hardin county discoveries mentioned.
